Get up. Get dressed. Paint. : Transformation

Starting out with a a tidy desk after the disastrous morning from last Saturday

After posting, I decided to spread gesso over the entire spread in an attempt to tone down all that purple spray ink.  Still hating it, I felt like it was a hopeless mess so I walked away and spent the rest of the morning cleaning up all that spilt coffee and putting away supplies that had accumulated on the craft desk.

Have you seen this new paint?  It's rather pricey; $9.99 at Joanns, $8.51 at Hobby Lobby.  There are about 10 colors but I had my eye on this purple. I purchased it with a 50% off coupon I had been hoarding.

With a fresh perspective, a full mug of coffee, and the new paint I transformed that disaster into this:

In the light the paint took on a bluish tone. That leaf is real.  I painted it last fall but never used it.

On this tag the pink tone is more prevalent.

I'm still asking for suggestions for a title for this new purple journal.  Go Here to enter.  These are the spreads I have created thus far:

Microblog Monday: Honoring the rain

Storm have pushed through the past few days leaving behind devastation of homes, lives, and families.  We have been fortunate. We experienced several thunderstorms and strong winds followed by cool, damp weather, but no damage.
Sunday morning I walked through the wet grass taking in how the the raindrops dressed up the garden.

No editing other than cropping.  Keeping it simple as I join in for Microblog Mondays. (Thank you Chandra Lynn for the invite)

Get up. Get dressed. Paint. : Not meant to be...

I look forward to Saturday morning all week.  Knowing I have this one quiet morning filled with hours set aside to do nothing but paint helps manage the stress of my teaching job.  But not today...

The page started out okay.  I Mod Podged the scraps I pulled with the intent of creating a mixed media page in my purple journal.

I sprayed  it with dylusions ink in crushed grape but when I misted it with water it turned bubblegum pink in spots.  This wasn't what I wanted!

I sprayed over it, moving the excess around with a paint brush.  Now I'm just hating the look I've created.  Just when I start adding Distress paint Allistair jumps up and tips over my full mug of coffee .  I was going to take a photo of the mess but decided against it as coffee was running down the wall and short circuited the outlet.
I planned on cleaning up my craft room when school ended but now, thanks to this mishap I shall begin today.  Perhaps my angels were trying to get my attention and used Allistair as their intermediary.

I love you Allistair but not so much today!

What next?

Looking for some input as to how to salvage this mess.  I thought about using some purple die cut flowers or painting some flowers over the whole thing but what color do I use?

Do you have any suggestions as to how to save this?

Playing in the purple journal.

Creating a page incorporating a photo from a very talented photo artist Chandra Lynn sent via a photo swap.  My desire was to keep the page simple as to not detract from her gorgeous photo.  For the background I glued down crumpled purple tissue paper.  Thinking it was too plain I found a sheet of deep navy tissue paper which I sprayed with Perfect Pearls spray in pearl before gluing down.  The crinkles give the page some need texture.

Using ribbon to frame the photo:

I was trying to match the leaves in the photo which have a touch of olive.  I sprayed the olive vine first with Distress Stain in hickory smoke.  It did not mute enough of the green so after drying it I sprayed it with Perfect Pearls spray in pewter.

Allistair was determined to "assist" me but became distracted playing in the paper.

And again as I was add the ribbon.

Give away reminder:

Help me find the perfect title for this purple art journal.  If I use your suggestion I will send you an 8x10 mixed media piece, in purple of course!  Go HERE to leave your suggested title.

Get up. Get dressed. Paint.: a desk full of purple

Starting on the purple art journal, no title for it as of yet.  I pulled bottles of paint to create this sea of purple for the background.

Using a favorite sheet of scrapbook paper and quotes from the Seize the Day desk calendar.

The green metallic embossing powder and splatters of Genesis Green Pearlescent liquid acrylic ink add the needed pop of color.

Give way: Help name my purple journal

Contemplating various titles for this journal: Perfectly Purple, A Discourse in Purple, or Purple Pleasures are what I have so far.  If you have a suggestion or two I would love for you to share.  If I decide to use it I will send you an 8x10 mixed media piece, in purple of course!
